Sonance - A music player with visual experiences.

Sonance plays music that is on your device, and displays waveform and audio spectrum visualizations, plus power level meters. You can see the beat !

Sonance has an in-car user interface, with large buttons, and swipe gestures to move between songs. Its good to use while driving, since you dont have to focus much on it to make a desired change, yet it also has entertaining visualizations to enhance the musical experience, when you can focus on it.

Sonance has an easy to use shuffle mode, as well as the ability to repeat one, or a queue of chosen songs.

It has a variety of settings allowing personal customization of startup, user interface, and visualizer settings.

The visualizer has a full screen mode, that allows for all manner of customization, via pinch and swipe gestures.

Sonance also works well with AirPlay, and the visualizers look great when Mirroring your device.

Sonance does retain Sound Views original ability to visualize input from the microphone. This allows you to have fun with sound ! It analyzes sound from the built in microphone, or from an attached external microphone, and displays both the audio input signal, and the "frequency bars", which are the results of the spectrum analysis.

The audio input signal is displayed in the lower view as a waveform and the spectrum is displayed in the upper view as bars indicating the strength of that frequency within the audio input signal.

Frequencies range from 0 hertz to 24000 Hertz or 24K, this is the range of the iPhone and iPad microphone, and also the general range of human hearing.

You can use a horizontal and vertical pinches on either display to zoom in/out of the visualization. On the Spectrum display you can also use a slide gesture, to move the display left and right, allowing you to see specific frequencies in detail.

Pinches are cumulative, so keep pinching. The settings panel allows you to reset the app to default settings, so have fun exploring sound !

Pros and cons of Sonance - Visual Music Player app for iPhone and iPad

Sonance - Visual Music Player app good for

I like that sensitivity bar. It helps alot. But could be alot better if it could analyze in more detail below 4khz
This would be the bomb if it worked with the IPod on your phone to. Can this be done?
This app is much improved from earlier versions, and the continued enhancements have made it a worth while purchase. I personally love the Spectral Flames !
Need grid for frequency strength reference. Also highest level from past 30secs should mark

Some bad moments

I was looking for an app that respond to unique frequencys but this one always show all frequencys active even if I produce a single tone. I hope for some update.
Well the colour customization is cool but the oscilloscope is not smooth. Pretty choppy. A smoothness update is needed.
The app doesnt recognize frequency. When playing A note, all bars level goes up. I dont think this app is worth to pay $0.99.
I would not recommend this app, for the following reasons. 1. The sound in the room does not seem to be displayed on the screen unless the room is fairly quiet. 2. The frequency scale is only linear and cant be changed to log. Zero to 4 kHz occupies 20% of the linear scale. 3. You cant select line display, only vertical bars. 4. The test mode appears of limited usefulness at best.
Good for a light show but thats about it. Not sensitive enough for any real use and not focussed on the right frequencies (most of the graph is dedicated to frequencies beyond the range of hearing for the average pop/rock music listener).
I have no clue what filters or FFT the programmer TRIED to implement. It doesnt work yet. You will get an app with bars that somewhat jump to incoming noise or sound. Definitely in no way anywhere near to what one expects from a spectrum analyzer. However you get what you pay for: $0.99 isnt much.
